Godaido, standing on a small island in Matsushima Bay, is one of the area’s best-known landmarks. The present hall was rebuilt in 1604 by Date Masamune and is the oldest surviving example of Momoyama architecture in Tohoku. More than 400 years of history meet classic scenery of sea and pine trees.
