Sendai Tanabata Festival Sendai Tanabata Matsuri
Held every year from August 6 to 8, the Sendai Tanabata Festival is one of the city’s signature summer events. Downtown shopping arcades are filled with colorful handmade decorations crafted from washi paper and bamboo. Walking beneath the streamers is itself one of Sendai’s quintessential summer experiences.
